Xillio Expands Offerings with Connector for Alfresco ECM Systems

Alfresco connector provides quick and easy import and export of content and data

Hilversum, August 31, 2016 – Xillio, provider of the Content ETL Platform, is expanding its collection of content connectors with the launch of the Alfresco connector. The Alfresco connector is a plug-in to Xillio's Content ETL platform and can be installed in one click. The connector provides the ability to quickly and easily export content types (eg. documents, users, comments, tags) from Alfresco, or import into Alfresco. This new connector is used to integrate Alfresco with other content repositories and for a content migration to Alfresco, and from Alfresco.

CMIS
The new Alfresco connector is based on the standard Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS), which Alfresco offers. CMIS is an OASIS standard especially developed for the enterprise content management market. The CMIS enables a standardized way to access any ECM system that has implemented CMIS, next to Alfresco these are Microsoft SharePoint, IBM FileNet and EMC Documentum. This ensures a robust connection and allows importing content to and exporting content from a ECM systems relatively simple.

Unified Data Model
All connectors developed by Xillio are based on the Unified Data Model (UDM). The Unified Data Model is used by Xillio ‘under water’ as a temporary uniform data model that ensures that different content repositories can be connected to each other and the content from these sources is exchangeable with each other. It will also ensure that the content sources can be easily integrated into business applications.

For example, earlier this year we introduced the connector with OpenText, which allows for extremely fast export and import of documents from and to OpenText systems. All of our connectors are of absolute value to obtain access to content from various content sources.”

Besides the export and import of content and metadata in Alfresco, Xillio offers various solutions to improve the quality of the data. On the basis of an analysis of the data (eg. total entries and files, empty folders, file, duplicates, use and quality of the metadata) it can determine which action should be taken, such as deduplication, restructuring and metadata enrichment.
